2022 Tapestry Choral Tour

Share your gift of song from south to north, discovering Puglia and Tuscany
OUR JOURNEY BEGINS within the historic walls of Lucca, in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. From there, we explore the surrounding region for seven days.  Our one transfer takes us north to the foothills of the alps and the Adriatic Sea to explore unforgettable Venice for four days.  You will truly learn to appreciate the rhythm of Italy through music!
This tour is truly a unique experience that will run parallel with our Campanae Mundi Handbell Tour.  Our four concerts in Tuscany will be combined, while Tapestry will sing the two concerts in Venice on their own.  Many of the activities on the two tours are the same, but we will alternate days to take advantage of smaller groups, while still finding times to meet up along the way.

Resonate Tours has developed this tailored experience for choral musicians to share music while exploring Italy. We explore the streets, countryside, and beaches of this beautiful country while experiencing its culture and enjoying music with new friends. You can expect more than a standard group tour— uncommon adventures await. Make music every day, meet local friends, go off the beaten path, and immerse yourself in the culture. Innovative and collaborative performances will connect you with a curious audience and to your fellow musicians.

Please note that all Tapestry registrations will be approved by the Tapestry Choir Director prior to confirmation.

Proposed Itinerary

Everyone convenes at the hotel located in the historic center of Lucca for check in and Welcome Reception. We’ll head to our rehearsal space and have a short rehearsal, then enjoy our first group dinner at a local restaurant. After dinner, we’ll dig in for more music or just take an evening stroll and hang out.

The Walled City

Tuesday is a full day of rehearsal for the group, but there will still be opportunities to explore Lucca. Grab lunch on your own and meet the group for a historical walking tour of the city.  We’ll learn more about Lucca’s place in Tuscan history and more about Italy overall.  We'll have a combined "dress" rehearsal with the handbell choir and then a combined group dinner.

A Taste of Italy - Concert (Viareggio)

Wednesday morning, we’ll head to the International Academy of Italian Cuisine where Chef Giancarlo will be waiting for us.  Together we’ll prepare the perfect Tuscan lunch AND then we get to eat it!  Learn why Italian food is so popular all over the world.  After lunch, we’re off to Viareggio to explore this popular seaside town and prepare for our first concert.

A Summer Place - Concert (Vinci)

After some well-deserved free time in the morning, we'll head out into the Tuscan countryside for a small-town lunch and to visit some of the summer villas of the Medici family.  Yes, villas plural!  In Vinci, we'll visit the Leonardo da Vinci Museum and you'll have a chance to grab a slice or a gelato before we present our evening concert.

The Hills Are Alive - Concert (Gavinana)

The wine scene in the hills above Lucca is blossoming and we'll have a chance to connect with a local winemaker in the area.  If the weather is nice, we'll have our lunch in the vineyard and then explore the hillside towns around Bagni di Lucca.  Our early evening concert in Gavinana is a perennial favorite for this enthusiastic audience.

Live More! - Concert (Lucca)

Eat a light breakfast today!  First, we’ll visit the Piaggio museum and factory to learn more about the Italians’ most famous form of transportation:  the Vespa.  For lunch, we dine at our favorite Ristorante David where the food is amazing and abbondante.  We’ll culminate our week of joint handbell/choral concerts Saturday evening in Lucca, bringing together all of our musical efforts in a fantastic presentation at the cathedral of San Michele.

The Magic Olive

During the day, we’ll visit the Olive Oil Academy to learn about the making of olive oil and come to appreciate the subtle and not-so-subtle aspects of its endless varieties. Our lunch will be a tasting menu to demonstrate all you've learned.  In the afternoon, take time to explore your new-found home of Lucca before a concert of Puccini's music -- You get the night off!

Architecture and Acoustics

After breakfast on Monday, we’ll pack up our stuff and head out for Venice.  On the way, we'll make a stop in lovely Vicenza to learn about Palladian Villas of the north and visit the impressive Teatro Olimpico.  Check in to your hotel in Venice and head out to explore this amazing city for a guaranteed magical evening.

The Magic of Venice - Concert (Venice)

Tuesday morning includes a walking tour of this car-free city.  You'll visit the bridges and canals, piazzas and churches and understand why Venice was once one of the most powerful republics in the world.  After a group lunch, your afternoon is free to continue your personal tour, but be sure to be on time for your call for your first Venice concert!

Artistry in Glass - Concert (Venice)

Meet for a quick boat ride to the island of Murano, home to the world's most famous glassblowers. We'll tour a glass studio and get an opportunity to learn about this intense craft.  After our lunch together, you can choose to explore Murano or head back to the main area of Venice.  Meet for our second concert in Venice, our final performance.

An American in Venice

A visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum will provide a glimpse into the art world of Venice and help you understand its unique draw.  The story of the museum, the art and the architecture is fascinating, while the locale provides a beautiful respite from the bustle of the Grand Canal outside.  Lunch and your afternoon are on your own, but we'll meet for our farewell dinner near our hotel.

We check out of our hotel on Friday and we'll get people off to planes and trains an on their way home.  After nearly two weeks, you may not want to leave... but there's always LA PROSSIMA!
