Tour Details
The Portugal Crochet Experience is designed especially for crocheters, bringing yarn, culture, and community together in some of Portugal’s most beautiful settings. Hosted by Portuguese crochet designer Filipa Carneiro, this journey explores Portugal through color, texture, tradition, and creative connection, with hands-on opportunities to work with wool, learn from local artists and artisans, and take part in a Mystery Crochet-A-Long project led by Filipa throughout the journey.
More than a traditional crochet retreat and more than just sightseeing, this is an invitation into Portugal’s creative world, shaped by Filipa’s crochet expertise and local perspective. You’ll visit studios, workshops, and cultural spaces where textile traditions are preserved, reimagined, and carried forward by contemporary artists and artisans. Enjoy regional cuisine and local wines that reveal a rich array of flavors, materials, and traditions shaping the creative spirit of Portugal.
In Lisbon, Portugal’s bustling contemporary hub of creativity, begin the journey with energy, color, and a sense of possibility. It is a place to start noticing the design language of Portugal: pattern, contrast, movement, material, and the creative communities shaping the country today.
In Évora, history is layered into warm stone, shaded archways, and tranquil praças. Beyond the city walls, discover an Alentejo shaped by texture, flavor, and tradition. You see it in the grain of cork and the patterns of glazed tiles, taste it in olive oil, local wines, and meals rooted in the rhythms of the land, and feel it in the worked wool and clay that carry local traditions forward.
In Carvoeiro, the journey opens to the vastness of the Atlantic, where dramatic cliffs and coastal light shape the Algarve’s creative energy. Trace the region’s Moorish influences and maritime history through nearby towns, local markets, and creative spaces, with crochet continuing in conversation with contemporary fiber art and the creative life of Portugal.
Throughout the journey, Filipa is a creative companion, offering inspiration at every turn. Together with fellow crocheters, you’ll share a small-group journey shaped by creativity, discovery, and connection.
